Classic Mexican-Style Guacamole

Ingredients:

1 fully ripened Mexican avocado, halved, pitted and peeled

1 plum tomato, seeded and chopped (about 1⁄2 cup)

1 tablespoon minced onion

1 teaspoon minced jalapeño pepper

1⁄4 teaspoon salt

 

Directions:

In a small bowl, mash avocado with a fork or potato masher until it’s still slightly chunky. Stir in tomato, onion, jalapeño and salt. If desired, add 1 tablespoon each chopped cilantro and lime juice, or 1⁄2 teaspoon minced garlic.

 

Yield: about 3⁄4 cup
