T he Guide • 4- 3 0- 2 5 William E. “Jesse” James January 7, 1946 – March 2, 2025 William E. “Jesse” James, 79, of Greenwood, Delaware, passed away on March 2, 2025 in Ocala, Florida. Born on January 7, 1946, in Surry, Virginia, to Eddie and Lena (Appel) James, Jesse dedicated his life to serving his country and family. Jesse proudly served in the US Air Force for 26 years, from 1965 to 1991, earning 17 medals during his service. His time in Vietnam fostered a strong sense of brotherhood, honor, and discipline. Following his military retirement, Jesse continued his career as a Warehouse Manager at Dover Electric. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Norman and his sister Selinda. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen (Hawkins) James; brother, Milton James; stepdaughter, Michele Swain; stepson, Steve Hearn; niece, Lynette Sills; many other nieces and nephews; step grandchildren, Sarah Warrington, Zachary Swain and Evan Sell. A private memorial service will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
